Privacy policy
What we collect to print and ship your order, who helps us handle it, and how to ask for it back or have it deleted.
Last updated 7 October 2026
In short
- We collect what we need to print and ship your order, and nothing for advertising.
- Your model files are stored privately and only our staff can open them.
- We use cookies only to keep you signed in. No tracking or advertising cookies.
- We never sell your data.
What we collect
Your account
Your name and email address. If you sign up with a password, we store only a secure hash of it, never the password itself. If you sign in with Google, Google tells us your name, email address and profile picture.
Your orders
What you ordered, the quote, the shipping address and phone number you give us, and the order’s progress through printing, packing and shipping.
Your model files
Files you upload (STL, OBJ, 3MF) and files we fetch from a link you paste. We use them to measure, price and print your order.
Technical data
When you sign in, we record the IP address and browser type with your session so we can spot misuse. Our servers also keep short-lived logs of requests and errors.
How model files are kept
Uploaded files are stored on our own server outside the public part of the website. They can’t be reached by a link; only signed-in LayerPrint staff can open them, and only to work on your order. We don’t share them, publish them, or add them to our catalog.
Who else handles your data
We use a small number of services to run LayerPrint. Each only gets what it needs:
- Stripe takes your payment. Your card details go straight to Stripe; we never see or store your full card number. Stripe’s own privacy policy covers what it collects.
- Resend sends our emails: order confirmations, status updates and password resets. It receives your email address and the message.
- Google, only if you choose “Continue with Google” to sign in.
- Shipping carriers receive your name, address and phone number so they can deliver your parcel.
We may also share information when the law requires it.
How long we keep it
- Account details: while your account is open.
- Order records: as long as tax and accounting rules require.
- Model files: while your order is active and for up to 12 months after delivery, so we can reprint if something goes wrong. Ask and we’ll delete them sooner.
- Server logs: a few weeks.
Your choices
You can ask us for a copy of your data, to correct it, or to delete your account and files. Use our contact page. We may need to keep order records the law requires us to keep, but we will tell you if so.
Security
The site runs over HTTPS, passwords are hashed, and sensitive settings are encrypted. No system is perfect; if something goes wrong that affects your data, we will tell you.
Changes
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. Big changes will also be emailed to you.
